Jack's End of Year Kindergarten Presentation

On the last day of school, Jack's class put on a end of year presentation.  They sang songs and shared things that they'd made.
 Singing...
They shared what they'd written about what they learned in kindergarten.
And they told jokes.  Jack and Emma (one of his favorite kindergarten friends) told this one... Emma -- knock knock.  Jack -- who's there?  Emma -- Colin.  Jack -- Colin, who?  Emma -- Colin the doctor, I feel sick.
Jack had a fabulous teacher, Mrs. Schembri.  He had a great kindergarten year!  Now he's a first grader...

Conversation with Ty

Ty handed me Jack's DVD about Jimmer today and this is what he said..

Ty:  Mom, I want to watch Michael Jordan.  (Jack loves to talk about Michael Jordan.)

Me:  This is Jimmer, not Michael Jordan.

Ty:  Oh, I want to watch Jimmer.  He's going to make it into the hoop.  He's going to shoot it from downtown.  He's going to make it into the hoop.  He's going to get it into the hole.  Right, Mom?  Right?  It's going to be awesome.  Right, Mom?  Right?

Ty went on and on for a few minutes about Jimmer and his basketball skills.  He copies Jack in every way!

Jack Kinderkick Spring 2012 Season

Jack played soccer this season through the YMCA.  He was the oldest kid on his team.  Some of the kids were barely 4 years old.  Jack tried to pass the ball to the other kids on his team, but a lot of times he was the only one around the ball.  He's very focused!

This video was from Jack's soccer practice on April 18th.

Swan Lake

Kate was in her dance company's production of Swan Lake.  She loved every minute of it!  She was a peasant.

Before her age group danced, Kate got to be in an extra part and walk out during the ball to present the prince his present.

Dirty Ty

The other day I was making dinner so we could eat before we had to go to Jack's t-ball game.  The kids were playing in the sand under the swing set.  I was happy that they were playing so well together.  I knew they were playing with water, but I didn't realize that sand + water + Ty = a bath right before dinner.

Ty was a little too dirty for a rinse off in the sink.  He had to have a bath to get all the sand out of his hair.

Yard Pictures

All of our hard work on our yard last year is paying off.  We're enjoying having grass this year!

New Bikes

Kate and Jack got bigger bikes for their birthdays this year.  They just had to wait a little while after their actual birthday until we found bikes to buy them.
We actually returned Kate's bike and got her a bike just like Jack's.  The kids are adjusting pretty well to having hand brakes and are learning how to shift gears.  Jack's bike is a little big for him, so he has to tip over a little to get off.

Spirit Week

The kids had spirit week at school..
The first day was school spirit day.   The kids wore red shirts.

Tuesday, May 8, Cowboy Day...
Ty wanted to dress up today.  I guess he thought it was Halloween (since the kids were cowboys for Halloween too).

Wednesday, May 9th was Pajama Day...

Thursday, May 10th was Team Spirit Day...

Friday was Hawaiian Day.  I forgot to take a picture of Kate.  She looked cute.  Someone gave me a Hawaiian shirt for Jack and I saved it just in case there ever was Hawaiian Day at school.  Jack decided at the last minute that he did NOT want to wear it.  He wanted to wear "normal" clothes (aka basketball shorts and a t-shirt).

School Field Trips

I got to go with both Kate and Jack on their last field trips of the year.  Here are a few cell phone pics.

Jack's class went to the Santa Fe Children's Musuem.  The most popular thing to do there is face paint.

Kate's class went to the PEEC center here in Los Alamos.  This is on our hike.

Jack is 6!

Jack has been waiting for his birthday for a while.  We made a paper chain that is in his room that is counting down to the end of the school year (so he'll know that that's how long he has left to be a kindergartener) and to his birthday.

This morning I woke up at 5:30 and noticed that his reading light was on.  I turned it off and he told me to turn it back on so he could try to go back to sleep.

Finally it was time to get up and everyone went in the living room to watch Jack open his presents.

He got a card and $ from Grandma and Grandpa Judi...
New basketball shorts (which he wore to school)...
DVD about Jimmer (which he watched after school)...
And some little legos from Kate and Ty...
Then he got to eat his favorite cereal, Lucky Charms (or Yucky Charms as Ty calls them).
Then Jack went to school.  He got to be the line leader.  And he took Captain America fruit snacks to share with his class.  He got to wear a birthday crown all day too (but not at lunch because you can't wear hats in the gym).

Ty and I took the kids their lunch.  They got a special lunch (not their usual pb and j) -- chicken nuggets, chips, oranges or strawberries and a drink.  Jack is sitting by Anna and Aidan.

After school Jack played Legos and then watched his Jimmer DVD.  Whenever Jack watched basketball he ends up playing basketball too.  Eventually he ended up playing on the big hoop outside with Dad.
Jack wanted a baseball themed cake..

Jack got to eat the "baseball" and some baseball glove.
 Happy Birthday Jack!

Here's a little about Jack at age 6:

He loves basketball and plays inside and/or outside every day.
He loves school!  He loves his teachers and loves being in kindergarten.
He can tie his shoes.
He has lost two teeth.
He can read almost every word in the book, Hop on Pop, and is great at sounding things out.
His handwriting has improved lots!
His best friend is Anna.  And his best "boy" friend is Eddie.
He likes to play with our neighbor, Ben, who is 9.
Jack is great at following rules at school!
He has gotten a red stamp on his kindergarten calendar every day this year (red is good, black is bad!)
He is very sweet to Ty.  He plays with him and sometimes lets him sleep in his bed.
Jack and Kate are buddies at school.  They love to see each other at school and are buddies on the bus.
Jack can run really fast!
For his birthday dinner he wanted to eat steak.
Right now Jack is on a soccer team and a t-ball team.
Jack is a very sweet boy!  We love him a lot!
