Step 1 -- Put flour in bowl. Sprinkle ground sage and celery salt.
Step 2 -- Stir and add water.
Step 3 -- Add red sprinkles.
Step 4 -- Stir with whisk
Step 5 -- Add a little more flour and 1 T. lemon juice.
FINISHED! Oh, wait Mom, I need a little more flour and water.
The nearly-finished product.
I said: Jack, it looks delicious.
Jack said: Mom, it's not food.
Jack then spent the next little while washing the dishes (playing in the sink) after having the flour brushed off his clothes and washing the goo off his feet.
Jack got an early birthday present this week, a scooter. Kate got one for her birthday and got to open it a week early, so we did the same for Jack. It's been a long month of the kids sharing Kate's scooter. Now it's nice that they can scoot together.
Ty is 9 months now! Time has flown by so fast. Ty is still the sweetest baby and a joy to be around. It's been fun to be able to be with him all the time. He's my little buddy and everyone else's buddy too.
Ty had his 9 month check up yesterday. Here's how he measures up:
Weight: 18 lbs 2 3/4 oz (13.5%)
Length: 26.63" -- not sure this is really accurate since he's so wiggly (5.46%)
LIKES:
to be held by mom
playing with Kate and Jack
pulling himself up to his knees
swiveling around on his bum
baths
feeding himself food
watching the kids play soccer -- he kicks his legs and squeals because it's so funny
standing up while holding onto hands
drooling -- he soaks his bibs really quickly
having two bottom teeth
looking around at things -- if he hears a noise he has to turn to see what it is
playing the piano, especially when I'm teaching piano lessons
Kate is six now! Where have the last six years gone? Kate is a very sweet girl and a joy to have in our family. Click here to see how much she's changed from her birthday last year.
Here are some things that she likes to do:
do perler beads
hula hoop
ride her scooter and bike
dance and try to go on pointe
read (her reading has taken off since January)
watch Ty for me
play the piano
play with her friends
playing "Mom and Kid" w/her friends and "Mom and Dad" w/Jack
gymnastics
Dislikes:
getting up in the morning before school
eating chicken (mostly just in soups)
The birthday festivities started early since Kate's birthday was on Friday so she had to go to school
She opened her presents first thing in the morning.
Soccer ball from Jack and Ty
Perler beads from Grandma & Grandpa Cox
Kate is an amazing hula hooper!
Kate also got $ from Grandma & Grandpa Judi, a new shirt and skirt that she wore to school, and her scooter that she got to open early.
Kate took little chocolate donuts to share with her class at school. Dave and Jack took her a special lunch (corndog) and ate lunch with her at school.
After school Kate, Jack and I did some serious perler bead making. Then we took a trip to Espanola and ate dinner at Burger King (Kate's choice). She wanted to eat there because they have a play place, but unfortunately they couldn't plan on it since a car ran through the playplace the other day and it was out of commission.
We had a great Spring Break with Grandpa and Grandma Judi visiting us. Dave took the week off, so we all got a nice break. Here's some of what we did:
EASTER, Sunday, April 4, 2010
The kids got to find some Easter eggs on Sunday morning. They each had certain colors that they had to find and then there was one egg with their name on it and a clue inside it. The clue led them to a new book. We successfully celebrated Easter this year without talking about the Easter Bunny at all. The kids knew that I hid the eggs and bought them a book and they didn't ask about the Easter Bunny. Maybe they'll ask about him next year.
Kate and her book, Little Mommy
Jack got The Three Little Pigs -- one of his favorite stories
Grandpa was a great story reader.
I made Shaunna's famous Easter cupcakes -- chocolate cupcakes w/creme filling for an early birthday celebration for Kate.
Saturday, April 3, 2010 Egg Hunt
Following Judi tradition, we colored Easter Eggs and also had a BBQ (without the picnic). I made the our traditional Easter BBQ -- marinated chicken, hamburgers, salads, etc.

Friday, April 2, 2010 Kate's Early Birthday Present
We went to Albuquerque and Vaughn and Marianne took the kids to IHOP for breakfast while Dave and I went to the temple. We went to Target on the way home and let Kate pick out a scooter for her birthday. We were nice and let her open it even though her birthday wasn't for another week.
The kids waiting for Kate to get the OK to open her scooter.
Jack helping Dave set up the scooter.
Showing off the new scooter to Kate's friend, Nina
Jack and his buddy, Grandpa -- they were inseparable the whole week. Jack was in heaven having someone to play cars and basketball with him all the time.
Marianne threw out her back while she was here, so she and Kate spent lots of time cuddled on the couch.
This is how the kids like to play outside sometimes -- take a whole bunch of stuff outside and play for a while. (Then watch Mom put most of it away -- oh well, at least they were playing nicely together.)
Tuesday, March 30, 2010 Bandelier Hike
We took Vaughn and Marianne to Bandlelier National Monument for a picnic and hike. They hadn't been before, so the kids were excited to show them around.
Ty and I are ready to go.
Our very simple picnic lunch -- I needed to go grocery shopping.
My boys -- Jack really wanted to wear the Camelbak -- it didn't last too long.
The men.
The ladies
Dave, Jack and Vaughn went on a extra part of the hike -- up some really steep ladders against the rock face. Kate, Marianne, Ty and I watched from the safety of the ground.

Sunday, March 28, 2010 Cameron & Emily's Blessing
We took a quick trip to Colorado Springs so we could go to church for Cameron & Emily's blessings. It's always fun to stay w/Geoff & Annelisa. The kids LOVE playing with their cousins.
Cousins! (I love this picture of Ty -- he's SO mad!)
