Water Baby

Ty loves his baths. Sometimes he takes one with Kate and Jack in the big bathtub. Most of the time he sits in his baby bathtub and splashes away.

I realized the other day that I haven't taken a bathtime picture of Ty yet.  So here is one when he's 7 1/2 months old:

Yesterday after school we took the kids to rec center in Santa Fe.  They have a really great leisure pool, with a beach entrance, little kid slide, big kid slide, lazy river, whirlpool, etc.  Ty and I sat in the really shallow part of the beach entrance.  Ty loved it!  He splashed and splashed, then he'd pivot around and look at me and lean on my legs, then splash some more.  He lasted in the pool as long as Dave did.

Here are a few things that Ty has been doing lately that I wanted to write down.  He tries to pull himself up on things so he's standing.  He usually doesn't make it onto his feet, but he pulls himself up a bit.  The other day he was laying on the couch on his back and his feet were kind of tucked into the back of the couch and he sat up without any help.  He did it a few times.  He doesn't have much interest in crawling.  He's only on his back for a minute, usually between rolling over.

Ty gets really excited when I stick out my arms to pick him up.  And I love how excited he gets when he sees Dave, Kate and Jack too.  Our favorite game to play is when Ty and I chase the kids up the stairs when it's bedtime.  Ty loves it and it makes the kids hurry up the stairs (which I love).  He really is a sweet baby.  He's starting to get a little attached and wants to be held more, but he sure is sweet.

Tianna the Robot

Yesterday we spent the afternoon making Kate's new robot, Tianna. Kate is supposed to make a robot to take to school tomorrow. This is kind of like the kindergarten's version of a science fair. They are going to write about their robots this week, talk about them in class and then all the robots will be displayed in the hall at school.

Meet Tianna...
Check out her high heels...
Kate and her new friend, Tianna... (like the new Disney princess)

Just Playing...

We haven't been up to any thing new. Just school, teaching piano lessons, going to gymnastics, and lots of playing inside since it's still so wintry outside.

This is how Kate and her friend, Nina play with Perler Beads. They've been having lots of play dates after school. Nina lives a few houses down and is in Kate's kindergarten class. They walk to school together. Their favorite things to say are "easy peasy" and "that's so adorable."
This is how Jack plays with Perler Beads. (I'm not a big fan of this messier way to play with them.)
Jack still loves to play with any kind of Cars cars and all kinds of Thomas trains.
This is how Ty plays with trains...
I've introduced Ty to the "Tupperware" cupboard. It keeps him happy for at least 15 minutes.

Ty is 7 months old now. He had his second ever haircut this week. Maybe I'll take a picture someday with his hair combed. It's kind of hard to figure out which way it needs to go. He's got some crazy cowlicks and swirls in his hair.

Just for Jack

Last Friday, Jack, Ty and I got to spend a few hours wandering around Santa Fe while our van was being serviced. We hit the jackpot when we found this outfit for Jack.
As soon as we got out of the store he asked if he could change. I let him change his shirt, but he had to wait until we got back in the van to change into the shorts. He's a little disappointed that it doesn't have numbers on the back. And he tells me that the NIKE really says JACK instead. He's worn this outfit almost non-stop since Friday. I did wash it last night, but it needs it again already.

Kindergarten Teddy

Kate brought to bring her kindergarten class bear, Teddy, home this week to spend a few days with us. We wrote in Teddy's journal about the things that Kate and Teddy did together.

Here are a few pictures:

Eating dinner w/Teddy

Combing Teddy's fur before school (we probably should have combed Kate's hair before we took the picture)

Kate and her BFF, Nina, took Teddy to his/her (I'm not sure what gender the bear was, it kept changing) ballet class. They dressed the bear up and taught it some dance steps.
Kate loved having her turn with Teddy. She's commented a few times already how much she misses him.

Dress Up. It's What 3 Year Olds Like to Do

Remember when Kate was 3? She wore this Cinderella dress non-stop. Here are a few pictures of her in it:
Well, now that Jack is 3 too he has his own version of playing dress up. As soon as he gets home from anywhere he strips off his "normal" clothes (which lately have been a basketball shirt and if I'm lucky, jeans) and "dresses up" in his sports clothes.

The other day I found him trying to put on this:
Yep, those are the clothes to his basketball Build-a-Bear. He successfully put on the shorts which fit nicely on his tiny little bum. With a little help we got the jersey on, but Jack decided that the top wasn't going to work. It probably didn't help that I was laughing really hard while I helped him get dressed. I was giving Dave the play-by-play on the phone. I took a picture of him, but I promised Jack I wouldn't post it -- I think he was a little embarrassed because it was so small. He wanted to wear the bear clothes because of the little NBA logo patch on the jersey. This kid is observant!

I convinced him to take off the tiny bear shorts by asking Kate if Jack could borrow her soccer clothes. He was pretty happy with this look:
Last night Dave and Jack were hanging out in the kids' room while I hosted a baby shower downstairs. Jack changed into these soccer clothes.
Dave had no idea where they came from. Then he remembered that they belong to the Teddy Bear that Kate got to bring home from school for a few days.

I think it's funny that every night the floor by Jack's dresser is covered with all the clothes he's worn that day. Usually it includes two basketball shirts, two pairs of "exercise" pants, one pair of basketball shorts., teddy bear clothes, etc. Maybe I should get him a "dress up" box for all his clothes.

I was looking through my blog and saw this post from January 2009. Check it out. Jack hasn't changed a bit. And check out February 8, 2009's blog post too.

Jr. Cougar Fan

We start growing little Cougar fans young at our house. I snapped this picture of Ty last Wednesday before BYU lost to UNM.

I tried to find a picture of Jack wearing this shirt, but for some reason December 2006 is missing on my picture CD. Who knows where it went?
