Ty's First Day of Preschool

Ty has been waiting to be able to go to preschool for a while, probably a year or so.  We did our own preschool at home last year, just Ty and I, since I was pregnant and then had a newborn during the school year.

This year Ty gets to be a peer student in the early intervention preschool program at Kate and Jack's school.  Kate and Jack were also peers in the preschool.  Kate went when she was four and Jack went when he was three.  It's nice to have all three kids at one school.

Ty will go Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons from 1:00 - 3:30.  I pick all the kids up from school together.

Ty couldn't wait for it to be time to go to school today.  He's been waiting for school to start since last week when Kate and Jack went back to school.

Before we left for the school, we took pictures under the tree in the front yard.
And we took a few more pictures in the parking lot.

After school, Ty told me that he didn't like the timer (the clean up timer).  There was a little mix up with his snack and another boy's snack, but tomorrow I'll label his snack and it will be fine.  When Kate and Jack were talking about how much they loved preschool, then Ty perked up and acted more excited.  Hopefully he loves it tomorrow.

It was kind of strange having only Nick at home and he took a nap.  It was really quiet.

First Day of School 2013

School started on August 14th this year (one day sooner than it started last year).  Kate and Jack were excited to go back to school and were ready to go bright and early.

Jack is in Mrs. Haagenstad's 2nd grade class (along with 23 other kids).

Kate is in Mrs. Reyer's 4th grade class.

Ty is 4!

Ty was so excited for his birthday!
He woke up and opened a few presents (new clothes).
This is his favorite shirt!  He wears it all the time.

Our neighbors brought us over 12 birthday balloons for Ty and his birthday party.
Ty invited his best friends, Ian and Stewart over for a birthday party.  He also invited Anna and Sophi too.  They played some lego games.  This one was see what you can build with all the duplos.
Then we played "pin the head on the lego man."
The kids colored their own lego men pictures too.  Then it was snack time - watermelon cubes, cheese cubes and "lego" crackers (mini club crackers) - all eaten with toothpicks.
Cake time!
A mini lego cake and cupcakes.
That evening, Ty opened his other presents, new books, $ from Grandma and Grandpa Judi.
His favorite present was his Lego dumptruck and digger set.  He loves little legos!
Then it was time for the Lego cake that he requested.

A few things about 4 year old Ty:
  • He loves legos, both duplos and little legos.
  • He can play Twinkle Twinkle Little Star on the piano.
  • He loves riding his bike (with no training wheels of course).
  • He loves sleeping with his two crocheted blankets.
  • His best friends are Stewart and Ian.
  • He loves swimming, especially jumping into the pool.
  • He doesn't really like eating dinner, unless it's pizza or pancakes.
  • He doesn't like food that is combined, like soup, etc.  He prefers food separated and plain.
  • He loves Fly Guy books and Elephant and Piggie books.
  • He doesn't take naps, unless we're driving for a long time in the car.
  • He can write his name, Ty.
  • He can count with a little help to 20.
  • He recognizes all the alphabet letters.
  • He loves to play with Jack and Kate, whatever they might be playing: basketball, soccer, legos, etc.

Topper Soccer School 2013

The kids did a soccer camp with the high school boy's soccer team.  Kate and Jack have done it every summer, but this year Ty was old enough to do it too.  He loved it!

They played a game where they dribble the ball like animals.

Ty and Jack each had their own personal "coach" - a high school boy assigned to them.  They loved the attention!
The boys told Jack that he's the new "Messi"
Kate did great playing with all boys!

Last Day of School

Today was the last day of school for this school year.  Jack finished up 1st grade and Kate finished up 3rd grade.

Ty, Nick and I got to go to Jack's party this morning.  We'll miss Mrs. Shelton.  She was wonderful!
Kate loved her year with Ms. Carr!  We didn't get a picture though.

Bring on 2nd and 4th grade!

Here's a picture of the first day of school last August...
Wow, these kids have grown up!

Nick Sits...Sort Of

On Memorial Day, Jack kept Nick hard at work.  He tried to get to him to sit by himself for quite a while.  Nick can balance pretty well for a few seconds and then he topples over.  Pretty good for a 5 month old though.  Jack was very proud!

A Taste of Summer

The kids got a little taste of summer early, since on May 23rd and 24th school was cancelled.

On Weds, May 22nd, there was a crazy "wind event" at the kids' school.  It lifted the roof off of the gym and dumped it on the preschool playground and library.  It did a bit more damage to a few car windows, light pole, a tree and a fence.  Luckily school was out since it was a short day, so there were no kids on the playground.

The kids enjoyed staying home and relaxing.

They ran through the sprinklers and then had to try to get warm.

After being home for 5 days (because of Memorial Day too), the kids were excited to go back to school for their last week before summer break.

Jack AA Baseball

Jack enjoyed his baseball season playing on the Riverdogs team.
He got quite a few really good hits!

Go #2!

It's OK to break the windows!

Dave has been replacing all of the windows in our house.  While Vaughn and Marianne were visiting, Dave and Vaughn tackled the kitchen windows.

They had to break the glass out of all of the kitchen windows to get them out.

The plywood protecting the kitchen from the shattering glass.

I guess Nick thought it was funny.  He loved having Grandma there to hold him.
The windows to the left of the patio door was one giant piece.  We removed the entire frame.

Then they had to rebuild the same frame to fit the new windows.

We moved the bottom windows up a little higher, and replaced them with windows that open.  Now we can get a breeze!

Jack's Soccer Season

Jack is playing on team Denver again.  It's pretty much the same team that he played with in the fall.  His coach is great and Jack enjoys playing!

Here are a few pictures from his game tonight...
 Jack is intense!

 This is Jack mid-tumble!
Go Denver!
