Jack's Thanksgiving Crafts

Jack made some great Thanksgiving crafts at school.

His papoose...
He wrote "Eat more turkey,"  all by himself.  The letters start going backwards on the second line.
All the kids had to make a disguise for their turkey and take it to school.  This is superman turkey...
They made a pueblo dwelling.  There are pictures of Dave and Jack fishing in yellow marker.  I love the buffalo the most.

Kinderhoops 2011

Jack played on his first basketball team ever.  It was Kinderhoops through the YMCA.  Dave was his coach and there were 11 kids on his team.

This is how Jack's basketball season wentl...
"I'm open..."
"I'm STILL open..."
Dribble...
Watch out...

Set your feet and shoot...
or jump and shoot...

A little coaching from Dad...

Defense!
Team huddle...
 Go HAWKS!
Fives...

9 of the 11 kids
TROPHIES!
Pretty cool having your dad as a coach...
Did I mention how cool the trophies are?  I think Jack's trophy is his most prized possession.

Twins...almost

Jack and Ty love their YMCA kinderhoops basketball shirts.  Ty was given one (since the YMCA guy ordered the wrong size for the team) and he wore it straight for two days (all night too).
These boys are very sweet most of the time.  Ty will do anything and everything that Jack does.

Kate's Award

Each month at the kids' school they have an awards assembly during lunch time.  Each teacher picks two students from his/her class to receive an award.  This month the award was for Responsibility.

I got an email from Kate's teacher the other day telling me that Kate would be getting an award today, but to keep it a secret.  I eat lunch with the kids at school every week or two, so I told them that I'd be eating with them today since it's Friday.

When they called Kate's name for her award, she was so surprised!  She had no idea that she was getting onee.
 "I can't believe it..."
The kids got a bracelet and certificate.

Dirt and Dad's Truck

We're trying to finish our sideyard before the winter comes.  Dave and Jack have gone to the transit mix and brought home several loads of dirt.
What more could little boys want besides getting to help unload dirt from the back of dad's truck?
Actually, I think they'd each like their own shovel.  They get to fight over Ty's.

Halloweekend 2011

Halloweekend was a busy one again this year:  school parties, performances, downtown trick-or-treating, ward trunk-or-treating, pumpkin carving, doughnut making and neighborhood trick-or-treating.

Friday -- Downtown and hospital trick-or-treating...
Check out Jack's look on his face...
Taking a little drink/candy break at the hospital...

Saturday -- Ward Trunk-or-Treating

Jack and Ty getting ready for the costume parade around the gym.

Ty and Kate with her friends, Ada and Sophi

Sunday -- Pumpkin Carving and Doughnut Making

The kids got the privilege of helping clean out their pumpkin's guts.  Kate was not very thrilled.
Jack was...because he and Dave decided to leave all the guts in their pumpkin to make it look scarier.
Ty got to color on his pumpkin...

Jack's and Kate's jack-o-lanterns
We made Aunt Shaunna's recipe for buttermilk doughnuts.  The kids dipped them in the glaze.  And ate some, of course.

"YOU need to eat a doughnut, Mom."  I'm sure that's what Ty was saying.

And, just one more picture of Ty eating a doughnut.  I couldn't just pick one picture, he's so cute.

Monday -- Actual "Halloween" Day

Kate's Halloween Extravaganza was in the morning.  The three second grade classes practiced for weeks for this Halloween program.  Kate was SO excited for it.  Jack's class got to come in and watch the performance along with all the families.

Walking into the gym doing the Monster Mash.
The kids took turns telling jokes, reciting poems and singing songs.

After the performance, the parents/siblings got to stay while the kids had their Halloween party (aka food).

I didn't take any pictures of the kids trick-or-treating around our neighborhood on Halloween night.  It was dark.  Our neighborhood doesn't have many kids in it anymore, but a lot of people went all out with their decorations and treats for the kids.  We felt like we should share our kids with those people that love Halloween.  We trick-or-treated for an hour and a half until the kids were very tired and cold and we didn't even make it all the way around our neighborhood.
