Trick and Trunk-or-Treating

We had a busy Halloweekend with lots of trick-or-treating. Friday after school we took the kids to the hospital to go trick-or-treating to the clinics. This is our favorite place to go trick-or-treating since it is warm inside and not too crazy. After the hospital we went to the trick-or-treating downtown. Lots of businesses set up tables and give out candy. It's a little crowded, but the kids like it.
On Halloween our ward had our annual Trunk-or-Treat. I guess the sun was in the kids' eyes while I snapped this picture.

After trunk-or-treat the kids went trick-0r-treating down our street. Jack showing off his "scary teeth."

Our friends, Kate and Cam, went trick-or-treating with us at the hospital and down our street.
Jack and Kate loved handing out candy at our door to trick-or-treaters. One kid tried to scare Jack, I don't remember exactly what noise he made. Jack came running in to the living room. Dave thought he was scared, but he was just trying to find his "scary" teeth, so he could scare the kid back. After that every time the doorbell rang, Jack would yell "ROAR" as he opened the door so he could be the first one to scare people.

Class Halloween Parties

I got to go to both Kate and Jack's school parties the day before Halloween.

JACK'S
The preschool classes went around to all the school offices trick-or-treating.

KATE'S
The kindergarten kids started their party by playing BINGO.
Then they had a snack.
Then they sang some songs to the moms that were helping with the party.

Chick Hicks

Jack got into a bad habit of not sleeping in his bed all night, so to break it I made him a stick reward chart. After he got 20 stickers, he got his prize -- Chick Hicks. I'm not usually very good at following through with reward systems, but this one really worked. And Jack really, really loves his Chick.

Fall Soccer

10/27/09

Dave coached Dave's soccer team again this season. Kate was the only girl on the team with six other boys that are in kindergarten at her school. They don't have scheduled games for 5 & 6 year olds in the league, only practices. So, one of the other coaches from a 5 year old team set up a game against our team. Kate was really excited because her teacher, Mrs. Hopkins is the wife of the other team's coach, so she was at the game.
Sad Jack. He just wanted to play.

Jack-o-lantern Family Night

This Monday was our annual pumpkin carving Family Home Evening.

Jack wouldn't grab the pumpkin "guts" and pull them out. He did not like his hands getting all pumpkin-ey. Dave helped him clean it out.
The kids drew the face on the pumpkin and I carved it.

Kate drew the ears, nose and the mouth. Jack drew the eyes and the eyebrows.

Bumbo Baby!

My friend Juli let me borrow her Bumbo for Ty. They didn't make Bumbos when I had Jack, so I don't have one. They're pretty nice. I have to keep in on top of the fridge when Ty isn't in it because Jack won't stay out of it.See what I mean about having to keep things away from Jack? He's just a big baby... I just borrowed this activity playmat from one of my other friends. I know, I'm kind of a mooch, but we have limited storage space. It's nice to use something for a few months and then give it back.

Junior Shoveler

Monday was our first snow of the year. Jack was really excited to go shovel it with our junior sized snow shovel.

Jack told me that he was making lines in this picture.

Bob the Builder Helper

Jack (a.k.a. Bob the Builder) helped Dave rake the pine needles in the back yard the other day.

Jack's 1st Bus Ride and Kate's Music "Informance"

Today was the day Jack's been waiting for ever since he started preschool -- he finally got to ride the bus to school! The bus picks up the preschool students that have some kind of therapy -- speech, occupational, physical, etc. but it doesn't pick up the peers that are in the class. After waiting for a month the school finalized some paperwork and approved it for Jack to be picked up and dropped off at another student's house down the street. He was so excited! Now he goes to school at 8:15 and gets home around 11:40. It's great for me because I don't have to spend 1/2 hour dropping him off and 1/2 hour picking him up every day. Anyway...

Jack and Ty waiting for the bus. Jack kind of looks like he's taking Ty's temperature, which he might need to do since Ty has a cough (since Jack cannot keep his hands or lips off of Ty).

Getting off the bus after school -- I couldn't get a good picture since he got off the bus so fast. He loved it though. We went to a friend's house later today and Jack showed me exactly where the bus went this morning.

Kate's music class had an "informance" today. Instead of a music performance, Mrs. Rasmussen (the music teacher, who is in our ward) invites all the parents to come to music class with the kids. It was really fun to see Kate being so obedient and quiet. I tried to get her to sit in a different spot in the circle where there was more room and she would not (guess it's against the rules).
Kate and her friend, Nina, and her "boyfriend" Matthew

They sang "Five Little Pumpkins" and "I'm a Little Teapot". Then everyone got to help do the noises from the book "The Little Old Lady Who Wasn't Afraid of Anything." Jack loved getting to participate too. School is so great!

Ty's 3 Month Photo Shoot

I took Ty to get his 3 month pictures taken at Sear's on Friday. Here are the results of his photo shoot. He was a sweetheart!
